SILIGURI, 3 MAY: Three members of a family have been killed in a fire at Dhaknikata near Champasari under Pradhannagar police station in Siliguri.
The fire broke out in their house last night from a gas cylinder, fire brigade officials said.
Adari Saha (32) and her daughter Bandana Saha (12) died as fire caught their house. Adari Saha’s husband Uttam Saha (40), who was critically injured, succumbed to his injuries at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) today, police said.
Another member of the family Joy Saha, son of the deceased, is safe because he was out of home when fire broke out.
Fire fighters failed to reach the spot on time because the way to the spot was congested.
Shocked with the mishap locals tried to douse flame before the arrival of firefighters.“Though primary investigation revealed that the fire broke out of a gas cylinder, we are trying to ascertain specific cause behind the incident,” a fire brigade official Dipak Nandy said.(SNS)
