On Saturday, Siliguri police raided different areas of the city and arrested five women and five men involved in the racket. The main accused, a class X student, Javed Hussain alias Rocky, has also been arrested last night from Satellite Township of NJP area.
Siliguri Police Commissioner Jag Mohan today told media persons the racket was being run by the student of class X of Shakti Bidhyapith, Siliguri. According to him, Rocky had developed a website www.siliguricallgirls.com and through this site he used to hunt the customers and supply girls kept in a rented flat at Uttarayon, Siliguri.
Police arrested five women, all educated and belonging to respected families. The women are residents of Coochbehar, Howrah, North 24 Parganas and Siliguri.
Jag Mohan also said the investigations are still underway, to find if there are any other people involved in the racket.
Similar flesh trade rackets had been recently uncovered by the police in the region. On September 18, 2013, Jaigaon police had arrested five men and five women suspected of involvement in a sex racket from a hotel located in NS Road. Police sources had informed the men were local residents, while the women were Nepalese citizens.
On April 6, 2014, Bhaktinagar police had arrested three men and four women from a hotel near Salugara for alleged involvement in flesh trade.
On May 18, 2014, Siliguri police arrested two women and two men from the Ambari region for alleged involvement in flesh trade.
According to the police, they have information about several ongoing sex rackets at hotels and lodges in the Dooars over the past several years. They said innocent girls from Nepal and Sikkim are brought to the Dooars and Siliguri for prostitution.(EOIC)
