Commemorating the 200th Birth Anniversary( Bhanu Jayanti ) of renowned Nepali Poet Aadi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya the Himalayan State Sikkim geared for celebrating two day long rich extravaganza composed of cultural, ethnic and traditional spree on 12th-13th July. Aadi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya birth Anniversary marks a special gust among the Nepali community in Himalayan region as well as across the world. 13 July marking the birth date of renowned poet is remembered across the state of Sikkim in all the places like school, offices, institutions and social circle.
This year of 2014 which marks auspicious moment was celebrated in a colorful way in entire region of Hill and Sikkim.
In Sikkim, the event was hosted in all the four districts where the respective dignitaries attended the grand functions.

In capital Gangtok the event marked with a procession ‘Jhanki Yatra’ with community people and school children dressed up in rich colorful attire starting from MG Marg at heart of the capital to the statue of Bhanu Bhakta at Zero Point. At Zero point the special Guest cum Governor Shri Sriniwas Patil and Shri Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly SLA Shri KN Rai offered a Marigold Garland to the statue of great poet. The marigold garland was also offered by Minister Shri GM Gurung, First Woman Speaker of Sikkim Smt Kalawti Subba along with various other special dignitaries and the people from all walks of life.
Special program was hosted at Manan Kendra where series of cultural program, Solokas of Ramayan recital was done by School children.
The most awaited part of the program was conferring of Bhanu Puraskar 2014, the renowned scribe-literary figure Shri CD Rai was bestowed with the prestigious award from hand of Speaker Shri KN Rai.
