Today is the 200th birth anniversary of poet Bhanubhakta Acharya and
on this auspicious occasion,the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA)
awarded eminent literary figure Shri Indra Bahadur Rai with the
‘lifetime achievement’ award for his contribution to Nepali literature.
This year the GTA selected Sahitya Academy award recipient Indra
Bahadur Rai, an eminent writer and critic, as the first recipient of the
lifetime achievement award. He also received a cash award of Rs 2 Lakh along with a citation.
The Information and Cultural Affairs department of the GTA also
honoured achievers from various fields for their contribution to our
Nepali community through their work.
Aadikavi Bhanubhakta Samman award was given to violinist Ganesh Sharma for music, Usha Gongden for folk dance, IK Singh for drama and performance, and Keshav Pradhan for journalism.The award recipients also received cash award of Rs 25,000 each along with citations.
We want the new generation to acknowledge these luminaries and take our heritage forward. The whole purpose of honouring the achievers is to encourage young talent to work and give something to our community.
