Sukanta Bhandari Mirik wins national Colouring, Handwriting Competition
Twelve year old Sukanta Bhandari from Mirik has won the national Colouring and Handwriting Competition organised by the Mumbai-based Rangotsav Sanstha. The son of Suman and Khushboo Bhandari of Deosay Dara, Sukanta is a student of the seventh standard at the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. He bagged the coveted top spot for his ‘Hill man’, a water painting of an elderly man of the Darjeeling hills. The young artist has paid minute attention to details such as the threads in the man's shirt, his whiskers, wrinkled skin, bushy eyebrows and even the reflection in his glassy eyes. (HS)
