Three people were crushed to death by a train at Sherpabazar in Doars, Jalpaiguri district

Siliguri, Aug 3 : Altogether three people were crushed to death by a train at Sherpabazar in Doars, Jalpaiguri district, late last night.
Railway Superintendent of Police (RSP), Siliguri, Jayanta Kumar Pal today said the victims identified as Sherbhadur Chetri (28), Abhoy Munda (25) Krishna Tamang had gone near the tracks to drive away elephants.They fell unconsious on the tracks after consuming liquor and were run over by a train passing through the area. Their bodies were recovered by a patrolling team of the railway police.
It was suspected the trio came under the wheels of Siliguri-Alipurduar passener train, which was late by five hours, the RSP said, adding the investigation was on to ascertain the name train that crushed them to death.
Two boys aged between 10-12 years were also injured in the incident. They have been admitted to Jalpaiguri District Hospital.
