DIMAPUR, Jan 16
Vivela Club, Kohima a Premier Club of Gorkha Community of Kohima celebrated ‘Magha Sakrati’ on January 15 at Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall, Chandmari, Kohima.
The Programme was graced by Nobin Pradhan, President, Nagaland Gorkha Association as the chief guest.
While extending ‘Maghe Sakrati’ greetings to those present at the event, Nobin highlighted on how the event was celebrated in Gorkha Community, its relevance with the culture of the community and its importance.
He appreciated the Club for taking up various programmes in the society and lauded the club by saying “A Society is Known by its vibrant members”.
While appreciating the effort of the club, he urged upon the club to strengthen Gorkha Sahitya Kala Sanstha by their participation.
Highlights of the programme included trekking for members to Aradhura, cultural & traditional competitions and talks on signification of ‘Maghe Sakrati’.
In the competitions, Guras Group was adjudged as overall champion and Saipattri group was adjudged as disciplined group.
Santu Thapa and Gayatri Devi spoke on significance of Maghe Sakrati. The programme concluded with lighting the ‘Sakrati Ghar’ followed by bon fire and cultural extravaganza.
