Siliguri: Nearly a dozen of anti-GTA (Gorkhaland Territorial Adminstration) today called a series of agitational programmes, including a 48-hour bandh, against cecession (division) of land in the Terai and Dooars in Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts.
Seven of the eleven organisations opposing division of land formed a joint action committee (JAC) and called 48-hour Terai and Dooars shut on April 6 and 7.
They also called a blockade on March 15 to force the rail traffic to shut in protest of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha's demand of more areas at the GTA from Dooars and Terai.
Adibashi Bikash Parishad, one of the elveven organisations protesting cecession of land, leader Tez Kumar Toppo said they would stop trains at Malbazar, Moinaguri, Dhoopguri and other juctions to vend their protest.
He said besides ABP, Kamtapur Progressive Party, Bangla O Bangla Bhasah Bachao Committee, Janajagaran janachetona, different Naxalite factions have attended to form the JAC with eleven convenors.
Meanwhile, GJM leader Harka Bahadur Chettri reacting to this said every democratic organisation has liberty to oppose and favour against anything.
'But once the GTA Bill has got nod from the President, there is hardly anything to say,' he added. (UNI)
