Kalimpong Art Gallery to be inaugurated on Sep 12

Mukesh Sharma: Painters of Kalimpong in the year 2008 had formed the Kalimpong Artist Association to encourage the budding talents and to keep the flag of art flying in Kalimpong. After so much of hurdles in the past four years of its inception, the Association has finally settled to a permanent place at Upper Court Road. Now the Association can expose their talents to the world through painting exhibition at the recently settled permanent place at Cart road.Sikkim’s former Forest Minister T Lachungpa will inaugurate the said ‘Kalimpong Art Gallery’ on September 12.Addressing the press conference, the General Secretary of the Association Tika Pradhan today said that they had no places before to exhibit their paintings.Art Gallery will be the place where the artist can showcase their talents through exhibition he added. The Hotel and the Restaurant Association and the Driver Association has assured of providing help to the Association informed Pradhan. The tourists can please their minds with paintings along with the knowledge of the culture and the tradition of the place he added. The Drivers Association member Mahendra Pradhan said that the coming up the Gallery will add another beautiful spot in the tourists’ itinerary, where we can glass case our culture and tradition through paintings.The revenue generated out of the Gallery will be used for organising painting competitions among the students and their paintings will also be displayed said member also a painter of the Association, Chunda Mani Labar.
