1 corer to be invested under rural bio-research development scheme in the Hills

A farmer orientation cum training programme under rural bio-research development scheme was held today at the Kalimpong North Bengal Agriculture University Bhawan, which was attended by the scores of rural farmers and the youths.The resource person on the day was Dr Arun Ninaway, advisor to department of biotechnology, Government of India. He was accompanied by the principal invigilator, department of bio-research, North Bengal agriculture university AK Chaudhary, principal invigilator of botany bioresearch project, NBU, Prof BN Chakraborthy, Prof BC Shah, Dr RB Sharma, MB Moktan and Sajid Ali. Detailed discussion on mushroom farming,  solid waste management, fisheries were held during the meeting. As per the information of Dr Ninaway, project amounting to Rs 1 corer will invest among 1,000 rural farmers under the above mentioned project. The Government of India has projected three years for the completion of the plan. He also informed that the project has been initiated at Darjeeling and Kuch Bihar districts in West Bengal. The farmers will be provided training and assistances through the Kalimpong Agriculture College he added. Different resource persons also addressed the day. The programme was conducted by Dr Samuel  Rai.
