Kalimpong protests Delhi gang-rape

We won’t tolerate crime against women’. The frustration and the anger in these words were channeled to the streets in Kalimpong town today. The Gorkha Janmukti Naari Morcha, Gorkha Dukh Niwarak Sangh, Senior Citizen Forum, students, different organization today protesting the Delhi gang-rape and the weak legislation protecting the women conducted a massive rally in the town. The rally that started from Damber Chowk straightly went to the sub divisional office and submitted a memorandum. The memorandum demanded the culprits to be hang till death.Similarly the rally also demanded strict laws in the Hills against such crimes which are taking place at different places. They also demanded the immediate result of the Jeena Pradhan murder case that took place at Pedong last month.They reminded the administration about the security that needs to be provided to the girls who returns home during the late evening after tutions.Sabhasad RB Bhujel addressing the gathering expressed his sadness on the episode of the gang rape that took place in the capital of the country. There are students from the Hills studying in the metros and the parents back home have been worried he added. He also appealed the government for the stringent punishment for the rapists.Most of the placards that protesters held were targeted the administration and the weak legislation against the women.
