As a part of Corporate Social Responsibility NHPC Ltd., Teesta Low Dam Project Stage-III, Rambi has come forward to assist DROPS (DARRJEELING RONGCHONG ORANGE PRODUCTIONS) to market its homemade products under CSR Project “ASHA”.DROPS - DARJEELING RONGCHONG ORANGE PRODUCTIONS, a Mungpoo based women self help group is engaged in orange productions and also production of other organic agricultural items like ginger, mushroom, corn, honey etc. Women of DROPS do also produce homemade handicraft items likebroom, hand bags,moora (indigenous cane sitter) Under Project “ASHA”, Teesta Low Dam Project Stage-III, Rambi has put-up a stall on behalf of DROPSatUttarBangaPoushMela 2012being held at Suryasen Park ground from 21st December 2012 to 01st January 2013. The aim of the Project ASHA is to provide a platform to DROPS to showcase their homemade products and an opportunity to sell the itemsduring the entire twelve days of the mela. The entire cost of the stall & its decoration, the fooding& lodging of the members of DROPS for 12 days at Siliguri, the advertisement support like banners, stickers , packaging of products , transportation of agricultural products from Mungpoo to Siliguri has been provided by Teesta Low Dam Project, Stgae-III, Rambi . The entire earnings that will be earned by selling the agricultural products shall be totally owned and utilized by DROPS for its own benefit.From the very first day of the Mela, the people of Siliguri have evinced keen interest in the stall of DROPS and have been buying the organic products.The organizers of UttarBangaPoushMela, senior citizenshave appreciated the concept and effort of NHPC Ltd, TLDP-III in providing a unique platform to DROPS to market their products. It is pertinent to mention that members of DROPS have enthusiastically participated in this MELA with an aim to learn the art of marketing their homegrown products in a large platform. The members of DROPS have also expressed their thanks and gratitude to NHPC Ltd., TLDP-III for providing them a golden opportunity to showcase and market their products.This CSR activity under Project ASHA has been the brain child of Sh. R.K.Verma, General Manager, TLDPs who have undertaken a series of social welfare activities for the development of local masses of TLDP-III vicinity area in the Darjeeling District.
