Sumitra Good Shepherd Foundation holds blood donation camp

34 individuals donated blood in the blood donation camp held at the Pedong Junior Basic School today. The camp organized by the Sumitra Good Shepherd Foundation was supported by the Blood Bank of Kalimpong Sub Divisional hospital. The collected blood has been given to the hospital’s Blood Bank.The said foundation is established last year by Roshan Lama, resident of Pedong and his family in remembrance of his late mother Sumitra Devi in order to do social works. Today also marked the 1st death anniversary of late Sumitra Devi. The foundation has also been helping the locals of the areas in times of death and marriage.The members of the Lama family also donated their blood today. Dr Viswanath Saha of Kalimpong Sub Divisional hospital along with staffs of the Blood Bank, Michael Simmik, Kendra Ghising, Anand Mukhia and Rajiv Pradhan were also present.Roshan Lama also informed that soon the foundation will be providing ambulance service to the 5 divisions of Mungsung- Bermiok. The foundation has also decided to conduct few other programmes to collect funds for Little Angels Home of Pedong which delivers shelter to the needful children. Further it has also decided to hold awareness programmes on blood donation targeting the rural people.
