Two students of a famed school in Kalimpong were
caught red-handed with a stolen motorbike at Teesta Bazaar in
Kalimpong at around 1 a.m.
The motorbike of Arun Pradhan was
found missing around midnight which he had parked at 10th Mile in
Kalimpong in front of a nursing home. As soon as he came to know about
it, he filed a complaint with Kalimpong police that his CBZ motorbike
has been stolen. The Kalimpong police immediately informed its regional
police outposts and accordingly Teesta police outpost put up barricades
in the Teesta area. Around 1 p.m, the Teesta police caught two persons
with the motorbike red-handed. Police sources said that after primary
investigation it was found that the arrested persons were students of a
famous school in Kalimpong. It was learnt that the two students had
stolen the motorbike to sell it to a gang that buys and sells such
stolen motorbikes. The two students have been produced before the
ACJM Court, Kalimpong from where they have been sent in four days police
remand. A police official said: "We have taken the students in four
days remand and will find out if they were involved in such activities
previously." The two students had been staying as paying guests in
Kalimpong to pursue their education and while one is a resident of Lava,
the other is from Kumai, both in Kalimpong Sub-division. They have been
identified as Asif Gurung, studying in Class IX and Smile Rai who had
recently been admitted to Class XI. Both are 18 years of age. As per
school sources, "these two boys must have befriended anti-social
elements in their on-going summer vacation and come across such foolish
ideas. No school allows such anti-social behaviour to their students."
