Siliguri, 12 January : The BJP would introduce a special package for north Bengal if the party
comes to power, said party general secretary Varun Gandhi.
Addressing a public rally in Siliguri yesterday, Mr Gandhi said the region had been neglected for a longtime. “The north Bengal has been step motherly treated. The region has enough potential in tea, timber and tourism. It is unfortunate that no initiative has been taken so far. We would bring special package for the region. The initiative will be taken so that small scale industries can be set up in almost every household with Rs 2-3 lakh investments. Vocational training would be provided to the unemployed people to earn their livelihood, “Mr Gandhi said.
He said the party would introduce such schemes for the underdeveloped states, including Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odhisa, West Bengal, where the Centre would provide up to Rs 5 lakh loan without any interest for the unemployed youths. He also said the help-line numbers would be introduced for the people who could lodge complaint against the police atrocities or any other problems on those numbers and necessary actions would be taken. "If BJP comes to power three-four help-line numbers would be introduced, poor people can lodge any complaint on those numbers on police atrocities or any other problem and necessary actions would be taken. We need to address the issues of the poor people," he added.
Mr Gandhi warned the state government that they would be paid back the way the BJP activists had been tortured, harassed, arrested in the state.
“The BJP workers are tortured, harassed, false charges framed against them. I want to tell the chief minister that now it is your time but we are going to form the government at the Centre and we would pay you back about each incident, “he said adding the party would pay the prices of those BJP workers who toiled heard for the party.(SNS)
