Commissioner-cum secretary D.P.E.R & NEC Affairs Nim Yethenpa today
inaugurated the Special Handloom Expo 2013 organised by Sikkim Handloom
and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd. The expo has been sponsored
by the Office of the Development Commissioner Handloom, Union Ministry
of Textiles.
Yethenpa visited the stalls on display
by weavers, self help groups and cooperative societies from Manipur,
Kolkata, Guwahati, Cooch Behar, Uttar Pradesh and the four districts of
Sikkim.
The Commissioner also interacted with
the participants and expressed his keen interest and happiness. The
Special Handloom Expo is an annual event of Sikkim Handloom and
Handicraft Corporation Ltd held with an aim to offer a platform to
weavers, artisans and sellers and buyers to converge and create
awareness about the handloom sector as an employment and income
generating industry. The Expo will continue till November 2.
The function was also attended by
special secretary cum Director Commerce and Industries LP Barfungpa and
SHHDC Director Ganga Pradhan along with officers and staff members of
