Darjeeling Police organise traffic week

Darjeeling police superintendent Kunal Agarwal today inaugurated the Darjeeling police-led ‘Traffic Week’ in Phansidewa. A rally was organised this morning that was participated by students, drivers, local club members and area residents.

Darjeeling traffic police inspector-in-charge Hemanta Das, Phansidewa police station OC Suraj Thapa and Phansidewa BDO Birupakshya Mitra were among those present at the inaugural ceremony. Agarwal talked at length about traffic awareness and safety.

Speaking on the occasion, IC Das said the traffic week will continue till January 14. The SP also inaugurated a traffic point at the Mad Box More. The new traffic point is a novel initiative undertaken at a rural level in North Bengal, noted Das.

He further said another rally will be organised from the Kharibari area under Naxalbari police station on Thursday, followed by a slogan-writing and painting competition with traffic awareness as the theme. The winners will be awarded at the closing ceremony to be held in Naxalbari on January 14, said the IC. Free medical camps will also be organised during the course of the event, he added.(EOI)
