Security in Mirik being beefed up for CM’s visit

Mirik: With the Tamang National Convention approaching, the Tamang Youth Association has begun preparations at the venue in full swing. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will also be present at the convention on January 21 where she is expected to formally announce the formation of a Tamang Development Board.
The local administration was seen taking stock of the ongoing preparations here at the Phoolbari Maidan.
The additional police superintendent, SDO, SDPO, BDO and other officials were also present at the convention venue overseeing security measures being taken for the CM.
Administrative sources said while preparations for the TYA function are going on at full pace, security measures are also being beefed up to avoid any untoward incident when the CM is around.
As the CM is visiting Mirik for the first time, some local organisations are also gearing up to welcome her here. It has been learnt that she will attend a function at Roy Villa in Lebong on January 22 and follow that up by attending the North Bengal festival in Chowrasta, Darjeeling the next day.(EOI)
