Darjeeling's life style shopping
festival dubbed National Mega Trade Exhibition and Expo 2014 which
started on April 27 at Capital Hall in Darjeeling has enthralled the
local people here.
The Mega Trade Exhibition EXPO is
organized by Darjeeling Unemployed Youths Association in collaboration
with the Mega Trade Exhibition. There are about sixty stalls of various
items in which more than five thousand products has been displayed,
according to Exhibition managing director, Sabir Ahmed.
He added more than eighteen states of
the country have come for the exhibition to display their products and
each states have come up with their own brand. “For example, Kolkata is
famous for leather products, similarly Lucknow for handloom, Haryana for
handicraft and so on. The products have been displayed according to the
choices and wants of the Darjeeling people. So we appeal the people to
visit this exhibition and grab the opportunity,” Ahmed said.
Last year the Expo was organised in
Kalimpong and such Mega Trade exhibition is conducted every year in
Gangtok , Ahmed further informed.
Meanwhile, Darjeeling Unemployed Youths
Association president Rohit Thakuri said every year there are thousands
of youths who complete their education and remain unemployed, as a
result the number of unemployment keeps on increasing. “Therefore, by
organizing such exhibition this will help and show right path to those
educated unemployed youths,” he opined.
He informed no entrance fee is charged
for the exhibition, and is open to one and all. “We also took into
consideration the ongoing summer tourist season in the hill, so that
tourists could also enjoy the Expo,” added Thakuri.(EOIC)
