Sexually assaulted woman rescued in critical condition

A severely injured woman was rescued from the Yogi Para area of the Rajadanga GP at Kranti under the Mainaguri block on late Sunday evening. Sources said the victim Munmun Roy was severely injured on her head.
Roy, a resident of the Rajadanga GP, is currently undergoing treatment at the Jalpaiguri district hospital. Hospital sources said she had been sexually assaulted and injured with a sharp weapon. Social worker Karimul Haque who rescued her said he found her on the road and initially took her to the Uttar Sari Pakuri primary health centre.
However, Kranti police out post personnel later shifted her to the Jalpaiguri district hospital. The woman said a group of assailant attacked her while she was on her way home.
Police sources have said the matter is under investigation. (EOIC)
