Arun Chaudhary (IPS) today flagged off an ambulance service from the SSB
Siliguri frontier at Ranidanga dedicated to residents living in the
Indo-Nepal border.
The ambulance will be stationed at the
SSB Panitanki border outpost and be exclusively used for transportation
of serious patients from the Panitanki area to hospitals nearby for
urgent medical treatment. Patients from either side of the border can
avail of the facility, but all medical treatment will be conducted in
hospitals located only in Indian territory.
Many top ranking SSB officers were
present on this occasion including Siliguri frontier IG Kuldiep Singh,
sector Ranidanga DIG AK Mallik, Siliguri frontier DIG KC Dobhal and
others.
The Siliguri frontier SSB as a part of
its Civic Action Programme has treated as many as 3,587 patients by
setting up various medical camps and distributed medicines worth Rs6.83
lakh till date to the needy during the course of the past one year. (PR)
