St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School Dilaram to celebrate golden jubilee
St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School in Dilaram near Kurseong will soon complete 50 years of its birth and preparations are on in full swing to celebrate the golden jubilee.
BK Rai, teacher-in charge of the school, said in a press release St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School was established in 1964 in Dilaram, about 8km from Kurseong. The school was started by a handful of dedicated teachers and missionaries under the stewardship of Krishna Bahadur Chettri, the school’s founder and its first headmaster, whose mission was to impart quality education to the youngsters of the region.
The school received recognition as a junior high school in 1968 and was upgraded to the high school level in 1973 when Brijendra Kumar Rai was the headmaster. The contribution of the school in imparting valuable academic knowledge has always remained immense. In the year 2002, St Xavier’s received recognition as a higher secondary school when BK Thakuri was the headmistress.
BK Rai took over in 2003 and he has carried on the path towards excellence despite many odds.
The school will celebrate its golden jubilee from May 20 through April of next year. The opening ceremony will be followed by a series of events including fetes, elocution contests, concerts, sports and games and exhibitions, to name a few.
St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Dilaram thanks all well-wishers for their continued support and is hopeful of receiving the same going forward, concluded the press release. (EOIC)
