Madan Tamang son Sanyog Tamang seeks justice for his slain father

All India Gorkha League (AIGL) president Madan Tamang
Sanyog Tamang, the son of slain All India Gorkha League (AIGL) president Madan Tamang, who joined the Trinamul Congress last year, today served a letter to chief minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding justice in his father’s murder case. In the letter handed over to the CM at the Bagdogra airport, Mr Tamang further says that he has not been given importance in the Trinamul after he joined the party.
Mr Tamang handed over the letter to the CM as her convoy headed for Uttarkanya near Siliguri for an administrative meeting. Miss Banerjee spotted Mr Tamang there and stopped her car and received the letter. Madan Tamang was hacked to death by alleged Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) activists when he was preparing to address a meeting  in Darjeeling on 21 May, 2010.
“I have sought justice for my father. In February last year, the chief minister had assured me that justice would be given in the murder case, but nothing happened. According to the court’s order, the state government is supposed to give evidences to the CBI in the case,” Mr Tamang later said.
The CBI has taken up the murder case from the CID.
He also did not rule out the possibility of an “understanding between the state government and the GJMM” in the case. According to him, this could be one of the reasons for the case not making any headway.
According to him, he was verbally informed that he had been appointed as the Trinamul’s Darjeeling district general secretary.
Mr Tamang said, “I have written in the letter that I am not getting any cooperation from the district party president.  When I joined the party in August last year, I was informed that I had been appointed the district general secretary.”
“But no official letter has been given to me to this effect. I have also not been introduced in the party properly. I feel ignored. The day I joined the party, the chief minister had congratulated me over the phone,” Mr Tamang added.(sns)
