A combined annual training camp -
CATC-III - of the NCC Group Headquarters, Darjeeling started Saturday
and will end on June 9. The camp is being conducted at the premises of
the Eastern Forest Rangers’ College, Kurseong under the command of Lt.
Col Paramjit Singh, commanding officer, 5 Bengal Bn NCC.
Talking to reporters today, Singh said
around 400 NCC cadets, both boys and girls, from various schools and
colleges from Darjeeling, Malda, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri districts,
will attend the camp. The maximum representation is from the three hill
sub-divisions of Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong, he informed.
The cadets will undergo intensive
training in terms of drills, physical training, shooting, map reading
and tent pitching, among others. The training will be monitored by 30
army personnel and associate NCC officers.
Besides, the cadets will also undertake
treks to inculcate a spirit of adventure in them. Several social
activities have also been planned to groom the cadets into good human
beings and responsible citizens of the country.(EOIC)
