Two
inmates at the women’s’ hostel of the North Bengal University had to be
admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital today after
they attacked each other during lunchtime in the dining hall of the
hostel.
The inmates, Satika Subba and Hoimanti Burman, were both injured after they threw the hot dishes served at each other. According to other hostel inmates who were present when the incident occurred, Satika and Hoimanti were eating on the same table when the two suddenly started having a heated argument that soon turned into blows.
Satika reportedly attacked Hoimanti with a hot food tray while the latter retaliated by throwing her hot meal at her opponent. Eyewitnesses said the hostel in-charge was also present when the brawl took place.
While NBMCH sources said both students are in stable condition, hostel inmates have demanded safety and security in the premises to ensure everyone a peaceful stay.(EOIC)
