A press conference was today organised by CARE, or Cultural Association for Revolutionary Effect, here in Namchi to support the launch of new Nepali film ‘Biteka Pal’. The movie is directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’, who has also made some super hit flicks such as ‘Shaayad’ and ‘Bato Muni Ko Phool’.
‘Biteka Pal’ is produced by Rajesh Ghatani and introduces Avinash Gurung along with Keki Adhikari and Baboo Bogati, both well-known actors. The film was initially launched in Nepal on January 10 of this year and is a documentary one released under the banner of Big Production Pvt. Ltd, Kathmandu. The initiative has given a break to several actors to Nepali filmdom. Its underlying theme is the ups and downs normal people endure in their relationships and the consequences. Almost 90 per cent of ‘Biteka Pal’ has been shot in the picturesque hills of Darjeeling and highlights the world famous Tiger Hill sunrise point. The movie tells an emotional story of a girl who wants to tell the world of her existence. Set for release in India soon, a launch for it was today arranged at Hotel Chu-Lyang in Ravangla, South Sikkim. The event included live music by Baboo Bogati, Keki Adhikari and Avinash Gurung. Rajesh Ghatani will be donating 20 per cent of the entire proceeds collected in Sikkim to the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Institute for the Handicapped in Boomtar, Namchi.
‘Biteka Pal’ also introduces local artistes from Sikkim. Premieres of the film were showcased in the US and other Western countries, while one was held in Israel Saturday. ‘Biteka Pal’ will be screened in Kolkata and Kalimpong in the second week of August and in other places of the region as well. Namchi will get the opportunity to watch ‘Biteka Pal’ on July 26 and 27.
At the press meet, film’s crew members and actors and appealed for support to make ‘Biteka Pal’ a success. The press meet was also attended by well-known director and scriptwriter Subodh Chopra who had come all the way from Mumbai for the promotion of the movie.(EOIC)
