Dimapur Gorkha orgs pay tribute to Hav Padam Bahadur Shrestha

Gorkha Martyr Hav Param Bahadur Shrestha
Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): Dimapur Gorkha Union (DGU) along with the Gorkha Students Union Dimapur, Gorkhas organizations officials, other organizations and the Indian Army paid tribute to the Gorkha Martyr Hav Param Bahadur Shrestha whose body was brought to Dimapur and sent to his native places in Barapathar Assam on October 22.

The DGU in a press release said that Late Havildar Padam Bahadur Shrestha was deployed on Line of Control in Tangdhar Sector and sustained splinter injuries during unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army in the early hours of October 20. He was evacuated to Field Hospital, Tangdhar but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Havildar Padam Bahadur Shrestha is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.

Several Gorkha organisations in Nagaland march with the mortal remains of martyr Padam Bahadur Shrestha on arrival at Dimapur Airport on Tuesday which was led by Dimapur Gorkha Union. Large number of Gorkha people marched with the convoy carrying the mortal remains till Dighalipathar Hatighuli village.

DGU, chairman, Kumar Subba addressing the media of Assam said that Gorkhas of Dimapur are filled with pain and grief with demise of Martyr Hav Padam Bahadur Shrestha. Also c on behalf of Gorkhas of Dimapur, he condemned the incident stating “we are heartbroken with the attack on our jawans by Pakistan Army.”
