John Barla removed from the post of president of the Terai-Dooars committee by the state committee of AVP

Kolkata, Nov 02 (PTI) John Barla was today removed from the post of president of the Terai-Dooars committee by the West Bengal state committee of Adivasi Vikas Parishad for holding a meeting with the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in Jalpaiguri last Sunday. Parishad state President Birsa Tirki said that disciplinary action had been taken against Barla and four others for keeping the state committee in the dark about the meeting at Mongpong where an agreement for a joint movement was signed. The others served showcause notice were Tej Kumar Toppo, Sukhra Munda, Nicodine Minj and Joseph Hembram. Minj had earlier said after the joint meeting with GJM leaders that he and Barla insisted that a separate authority on the lines of the Gorkha Territorial Administration be created for Dooars and Terai to be named Adivasi Territorial Administration. The GJM leaders claimed that the meeting proposed formation of a Gorkhaland Adivasi Territorial Administration to include areas in Terai and Dooars in its ambit. PTI Cor PB PC
