Nepal Maoists Chief Meet RAW agents in Siliguri- A reality

“It is not just an allegation. It is a fact” replied Unified Maoists’ Party Senior Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’ when asked by Kantipur Daily November 13, 2011 to comment on the party general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa’s allegation that a section of the party leadership was anti-national and acting as the agents of India’s intelligence agency, RAW.

“I am of the view that a person of the stature of Chairman Prachanda should not have met those people (RAW agents in Siliguri)”, claims Baidya and adds, “I am not against meeting India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress-I President Sonia Gandhi.”

“I am worried because he met with those people who are junior to him in their ranks and the status that our Chairman is in possession”, Baidya adds.

It is a matter of our Chairman’s status, Baidya added.

“As far as the issue of going against the national interest is concerned we are referring to the Bilateral Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (BIPPA), Baidya continues, “We are not pointing our fingers at any individual in this case.”

“Chairman Prachanda had himself told me personally that in the manner BIPPA was signed with India was not a correct decision”.

So this does mean that Chairman Prachanda talked double.

In the exclusive interview with Kantipur Daily, Baidya also claims that he was being unnecessarily portrayed as a hardliner in the party.

At yet another plane he says, “We have already accepted the competitive multiparty system. There will be no need for another revolt if peace and constitution as per the desires of the common men is put into place.”

“The suspicion is also that Baburam Bhattarai may have been trying very hard to appease India to the best he can”, he also claims in the course of the interview.
