Gangtok.IBNS:The term of office of one member of the Council of States elected from the State of Sikkim is going to expire on 23rd February, due to the retirement of Ongden Tshering Lepcha.
The Election Commission has decided to hold a Biennial Election for the purpose of filling the said vacancy
. The aforesaid Biennial Election will be held in accordance with the following programme :-
Issue of Notification: 13th January, 2012 (Friday)
Last date for making nominations: 20th January, 2012 (Friday)
Scrutiny of nominations: 21st January, 2012 (Saturday)
Last date for withdrawal of candidatures: 23rd January, 2012 (Monday)
Date of poll: 30th January, 2012 (Monday)

Hours of poll: 9.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M
Counting of Votes: 30th January, 2012 (Monday) at 5.00 PM
Date before which election shall be completed: 3rd February, 2012 (Friday)
