Takdah- Takling Thom Sejum forms its Sub Divisional Committee

Mukesh Sharma: The Sub Divisional Committee of Takdah- Takling Thom Sejum was formed today under the Presidentship of NT Lepcha during a programme held at the Takling Junior Basic School premises. The newly formed Committee is under the aegis of the Indigenous Lepcha Tribal Association (ILTA) Head Quarters. The Lepcha Associations in and around Takdah Block namely, Takling, Bada Mungwa, Sochrang, Chekra, Lingling, Takdah- Chota Mungwa, Namring Teesta Valley, Pesok Bhageydara, etc. shall fall under the Committee.The ILTA President, Ren LS Tamsung and General Secretary, Ren Passang T Lepcha congratulated the Committee’s President, Obed Lepcha, Secretary, Sonam Lepcha and other office bearers. The newly formed Committee was also presented the Lepcha tribal flag along with documents, recognition letter and the Committee’s Constitution. The members were also made to pledge by holding the religious book of the Lepcha Community.The ILTA President in his brief address directed the members to know what their duty is towards the Community and also how to gain the Community’s rights from the Government through non violent ways.A cultural programme was presented by a group of Lepcha children during which Padmashree Sonam Lepcha played the traditional Lepcha musical instrument.
