State’s Cooperation Minister tours Kalimpong

The State’s Cooperation Minister, haider Aziz Safwi today met with the officials of different governmental organizations of Kalimpong and also toured various places of the sub division. The Minister who reached Kalimpong along with his family on Saturday at first met with the governmental officials at Circuit house and discussed about various issues for almost an hour.Later he visited the office of the Krishi Uddhyan Samiti at Pala Gram Panchayat. The Kalimpong, MLA Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri, head of the GTA Cooperative department, Sabhasad Urmila Rumba, BDO of Block II, Saptashri Nag and officials of the State and regional government organizations accompanied the Minister in his visit.A memorandum listing the various issues of the Pala Gram was submitted to Safwi. He also took heed of the issues in the presence of the President of the Samiti.Addressing the gathering the Kalimpong MLA notified the Cooperative department is now being shifted under GTA and in order to run the same properly, a meeting will be held between the officials of the Cooperative department.The Minister in his turn said that the after the shifting of the Cooperative department under the GTA, the Cooperative works of the Darjeeling range will be looked by the GTA. However, the State Government will carry out few of the schemes. Appreciating the work of the Pala Gram Cooperative Committee, he also advised that a land should be bought by the Committee for which the Department will be getting help from the scheme of the Centre.After his visit to Pala he went to the Public Urban Cooperative Bank situated in the town and also toured the Gauripur House from outside. After the visits and tours he left for Siliguri in the afternoon.
