Hills Motor Driver Workers Union conducts postering

The Hills Motor Driver Workers Union, Kalimpong conducted postering today at Damber Chowk demanding the decrease in the toll tax imposed by the West Bengal government for WB 76 vehicles. Along with the demand, another poster notified that no vehicle of Sikkim is allowed to take the tourists to the sight seeing/ tourist spots in Kalimpong. Speaking on this context, the President of the Union, Santosh Sharma, said that they have started stopping the SK number vehicles to take the tourists around in Kalimpong. The same is done with us in Sikkim, he mentioned. They have also demanded proper security in the tourist spots of Kalimpong to the administration. It was also insisted that the Municipality should fix the DS Gurung road near bus stand, which is being dug to the soonest. They also demanded that the government should take back the lifetime insurance scheme given to the private vehicles. Sharma also persisted that the sovernment should re apply the WB 78 no taxis which have not been functioning since long. Lastly, he cautioned that if these demands are not fulfilled by the government then the Union will initiate agitation soon after Diwali.
