No mention of Darjeeling Dist. in Primary teacher employment notice, complains Sundas

The employment notice for recruitment of 34, 559 Primary school teachers was issued lately in the newspapers where the number of posts was mentioned only for the 18 districts of the state excluding Darjeeling hills. There, Siliguri was mentioned as a different district. Thus, the CPM leader, Tara Sundas, today slamming the notification questioned that are there no unemployed in the hills. There are 774 Primary schools in the hills out of which 17 schools do not have any teachers. While 274 schools are run by only one teacher and 230 schools are dependent on 2 teachers. But still there is no mention of the hills in the notice, he complained. Sundas also alleged the Trinamool government of differentiating the hills from rest of the district.Further, mentioning about the meeting between the state’s Education Minister, GPTO and DGHC administrator in presence of the MLAs of the hills, Sundas enquired that why has the report of the meet being hidden. Hence, he demanded the report to be produced.As per government’s rule, 5 teachers in one Primary school is a must, but at present around 4000 teacher posts are vacant. Sundas notified that in the past 25 years, 310 teachers have been recruited in the hills, while in other 17 districts, 1 lakh 32 thousand teachers have been deployed.
