Darjeeling(WB),PTI: The Darjeeling Traffic police will soon install CCTV cameras at main areas of the town, police sources said.
"The plan to install CCTV cameras will be done earliest. The process for seeking permission from Highway division is in the offing," said a traffic police officer.
The CCTV would be installed to find out the vehicles being parked in restricted areas and in no parking areas and those violating traffic rules, the officer said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Amitav Ghosh said last year the police collected Rs 17 lakh fine from those violating traffic rules.
In this year the police has already collected Rs three lakh as traffic fine, Ghosh added.
