KURSEONG,10 Dec 2013: As
many as seven people have been critically injured in an accident that
took place along Rohini road in Kurseong. Sources said at around 5.30 in
the evening an Army truck travelling downhill towards Sukna suddenly
lost control and collided with four Darjeeling bound vehicles.
The Army truck reported was travelling
at a high speed when the driver lost control and crashed onto two
trucks, a bike and a luxury vehicle near the Army Firing Range area in
Rohini under Kurseong sub division. The truck also reportedly hit
pedestrians who were walking along the road when the accident occurs. A
total of seven people have been seriously injured. Kurseong SDPO Nima
Narbu Bhutia said that the accident occurred due to an engine problem in
the Army truck.
Bhutia said the injured people have been admitted at the Sukna Army Hospital, where they are undergoing treatments. So far, no casualties have been reported and investigations about the actual cause of the accident is under progress.(EOI)
