Minors from Kalimpong rescued in Siliguri

Two minor girls and a boy from Kalimpong were picked up in Siliguri this morning by the Bhaktinagar police. Students of a school in Kalimpong, they said they had left home to look for work in Siliguri. The three had even rented a room for Rs1,500 per month in the Bhaktinagar Police Station area. Area residents had informed the police about the three kids who appeared to be on their own. Speaking to the press, Siliguri police commissioner C.S. Lepcha said, “Parents must maintain strict vigil over their children. They should remain alert even when the kids are at home. These children could have been trafficked, but fortunately they were taken into custody before anything of that sort could happen.” (EOIC)
