One arrested in NBSTC stove burst incident from Kalimpong

Siliguri, Aug 1 : Santosh Subba, claiming to be a member of the new militant organisation Underground Liberation Association (ULA), was arrested today from Kalimpong in connection with the July 26 stove burst incident near the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) here.
Additional Superintendent of police, Kalimpong, Sangmit Lepcha said Santosh was detained last night for interrogation and was arrested this morning after he confessed about his involvement in the crime.
He was produced in the court later in the day, the DSP said.
ULA, which was against formation of the Gorkhaland Territorial Adminstration (GTA), had earlier claimed responsibility for the July 26 stove burst incident.
The accused is the son of former Gorkha Liberation Organisation supremo Chatrey Subba.
Chatrey is currently lodged in Jalpaiguri jail for attacking Gorkha National Liberation Front chairman Subash Ghisingh in February 2001.
