The Kalimpong Press Club has decided to
confer the sixth ‘Kaleybungratna Puraskar’ to Pramod Giri, principal
correspondent of the Hindustan Times and president of the Siliguri
Journalists’ Club.
The KPC will felicitate Giri on May 23 at the Ramakrishna Rangamancha in Kalimpong as the club marks its 16th foundation day.
Giri has been working as a journalist
since the last 18 years and started his career by working as a reporter
for Sunchari Samachar, a renowned Nepali daily that used to be published
from Siliguri. He also worked for the Asian Age newspaper for a couple
of years.
Devulapalli Amar, secretary general of
the New Delhi-based Indian Journalists’ Union, will be the chief guest
at the programme, while the guests of honour will be Bodoland
Territorial Council deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary and Gorkhaland
Territorial Administration deputy chairman Dr. Lobsang Lama.

with the ‘Kaleybungratna Puraskar’ and he deserves the award as he has
