The SFI has lodged a written complaint with the New Jalpaiguri police outpost. Speaking to the press later, the injured SFI cadres said TMCP supporters led by Nirmal Roy asked them to remove their banners and posters from the college premises. Later, a group of eight to 10 TMCP members assaulted Santosh with wooden sticks and leather belts. Nandan Bhattacharya was also attacked when he rushed to rescue his colleague.
Officials from the NJP outpost arrived at the campus and took control of the situation even as the TMCP dismissed the assault charges claiming they have been cooked up to defame the ruling front.(EOIC)
