Kurseong, 23 July: Activists and supporters of the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF)
have heaved a sigh of relief after their chief, Mr Subash Ghisingh, returned to Darjeeling after a short trip to the plains in Siliguri.
Party supporters had said they were “demoralised” following the sudden departure of Mr Ghisingh from Darjeeling to the plains on 20 July, and
following some media reports that he had left Darjeeling under some
“political pressure.”
According to the party spokesperson, Mr Daya Dewan, such media reports had “demoralised” the GNLF activists and supporters in Darjeeling Hills. “They had been disappointed a lot, but with Mr Ghisingh’s return to Darjeeling yesterday, they are happy to have their supremo back,” he said. After spending two nights in a hotel at Bagdogra, where he reportedly met his doctors for his health concerns, Mr Ghisingh returned to his Darjeeling residence yesterday. Mr Dewan further said that Mr Ghisingh is presently doing absolutely well when it comes to his ailing health.(sns)
