In Monday’s meeting of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leaders with the new West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, she is said to have declined CBI inquiry into the February 8 killings of Gorkhaland supporters in Sibchu. That was enough to put the lid of patience of Gorkha leaders off.
Within two days of the Monday meeting, a seven member delegation of Gorkha leaders along with GJM Supremo Bimal Gurung, General Secretary Roshan Giri and all the three newly elected MLAs of GJM have reached New Delhi to talk to the Central Government about their major demands. The delegation includes Trilok Dewan (Darjeeling), Dr. Rohit Sharma(Kurseon), Dr. Harka Bahadur Chettri (Kalimpong), Bimal Gurung , Roshan Giri, Dr. P. Arjun and Dr. L. B. pariyar.
GJM Delhi Unit Media Secretary Ranjan Sharma told iSikkim.com that the GJM leaders will meet the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee tonight. The GJM leaders will also meet the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram tomorrow afternoon.
Seven members of Nari Morcha Executive members in traditional dress went on to receive the GJM Supremo and the MLAs at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). Robin Pradhan (Delhi GJM Yuva Morcha President), Shankar Thapa (Secretary), Delhi GJM Nari Morcha President Lucy Rai, Delhi GJM General Secretary Anu Das Laber, Manoj Shankar (Vice President, Parents Body, GJM), Rustam Chettri (General Secretary, Delhi GJM) and Lopsang Lama (Cultural Secretary, Delhi GJM) were all present at the IGIA.
