Differences of opinions resolved, tripartite soon: Giri

Kolkata: The solution to Hills' problem became closer today with the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) maintaining that there were no 'differences of opinions' between the GJM and the state government with regard to the issue.
All differences between us and the state government have been resolved and we have come to an agreement, '' GJM general secretary Roshan Giri told reporters at the State Secretariat after separate meetings with Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh, Home Secretary G D Goutama and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Mr Giri made this observation after having a four-hour-long meeting with Mr Ghosh and Mr Gautama and an hour long interaction with the Chief Minister.

He informed that the copy of the draft agreement would now be sent to the Centre and hoped the date of the tripartite agreement would be finalised within seven to ten days.

Mr Giri, accompanied by Mr L B Pariwar, also informed that a nine-member committee comprising members of the Centre, the state government and the GJM would be constituted to look into the issue of inclusion of Terai and Dooars in the Darjeeling Hill Council.

'' We hope that the date of the tripartite meeting will be finalised within 7-10 days and the upcoming committee will help solve the impasse, '' he maintained.
