Giri told this to mediapersons on Saturday on his return from Kolkata, where he met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss various aspects of Gorkhaland.
He stated that the meeting had been positive, as Gorkhaland had achieved the territorial status for the time being.
He also noted that GJMM would not only cater to the development of the local Nepali populous, but also all other communities, which coexist with them.
"So now its name will be Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and it will be a powerful body. Our main agenda is to have the areas of Siliguri, Terai and the Dooars and also the areas of the Adivasis (tribals) and also of the ones that are inhabited by the Biharis, Bengalis and the Rajbonshis. We want a compact area made out from all these. So this is it," he said.
Giri further said a tripartite talk would be held with the state government to finalise the agreement within the next ten days.
He said the GJMM had not given up on the idea of a separate Gorkhaland state and said that the territorial status was taken up because the present situation demanded it.
"Our demand for Gorkhaland is in its own place. Right now our main aim is to build infrastructure and territorial demarcation," he added.
The GJMM is the forum spearheading the movement for a separate state of Gorkhaland to be carved out of the northern hilly areas of West Bengal.

West Bengal to forward separate Gorkha agreement to central government
Kolkata, July 9 : Expressing happiness over the consent given by West Bengal government for the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to be carried forward, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha General Secretary Roshan Giri has said the agreement will now be presented before the central government to facilitate the creation of a separate Gorkhaland state.
Talking to reporters here after meeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday, Giri said they are expecting a meeting to be called soon by the central government over their prolonged demand of a separate state within the next few days.
"Today the state government would be sending the Memorandum of Agreement to the central government and we hope that tripartite talks would be held by the government within one week to 10 days and the agreement will be signed. We had also made a courtesy call on Mamata Banerjee; so there has been a mutual consent over the final draft of the memorandum of agreement by the state government and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha," he added.
A renewed demand for a separate Gorkhaland region, which would include Darjeeling and some contiguous areas of Jalpaiguri District, has created fresh turmoil over the past few months.
The Gorkha population in West Bengal is estimated to be around a million.
