Rs.25,91,000 Centrally Assisted Post-Matric Scholarship for Students of Sikkim

Ministry for Social Justice & Empowerment released an amount of Rs.25,91,000 /-(Rupees-Twenty Five lakh ninety one thousand only) to the State Government of Sikkim, towards central assistance for the current financial year 2011-2012,under the centrally sponsored scheme of Post-Matric Scholarships to student belonging to scheduled castes.

Centrally Sponsored "Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students" provides 100% Central assistance to States /UTs over and above their committed liability, for providing financial assistance to SC students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. The financial assistance includes maintenance allowance, reimbursement of non-refundable compulsory fee, Book Bank facility and other allowances. The level of Committed Liability of respective State Governments/Union Territory Administrations for a year is equivalent to the level of actual expenditure incurred by them under the Scheme during the terminal year of the last Five Year Plan Period. The North-Eastern states are exempted from the concept of committed liability.
