KC Lepcha receives Bharat Excellence Award for engineering excellence

Sikkim/Gangtok, November 30 The Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Tarjum (Sikkim Lepcha Association) extended its heartfelt congratulations to Mr Karma Choter Lepcha for receiving "Bharat Excellence Award" being conferred by the Friendship Forum of India which was presented during a Seminar on "Economic Growth and National Unity" on 27th November, 2011 held at India International Center. In a meeting held on 29th November 2011 at Development area, Gangtok under the chairmanship of President Sonam Dupden Lepcha informed the Mr. Lepcha was being honored with this prestigious award in recognition of his outstanding performance and achievements in the field of engineering and his academic excellence. It is to be mentioned here that Lepcha, only son of Pemtuk Lepcha hails from Ramthang, a remote village under Kabi Lungchok Constituency in North Sikkim. Having completed his primary education from Government Primary School, Ramthang, secured his secondary education from Phodong.
Passed out 121th standard from GSSS
Mangan, further he graduated his degree in Civil Engineering from Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lucknow in the year 2003 and Masters in Technology (M. Tech) with specialization in Construction Management from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT- Delhi) in the year 2005. Lepcha joined Teesta Stage III HEP (1200 MW) under Mis Teesta Urja Limited as an engineer (civil) way back in 2005; at a very initial stage of conceptualization of project. Today while counting the success of Mis Teesta Urja Limited one cannot ignore the commendable service he rendered and contributed to bring this Mega Project to this stage where it stands today. He was the only local engineer to lead a tunnel project (site) as a site In-charged, even when he was at a very junior level with hardly countable experience and age. While all other sites are
being led by very senior officers having not less than 20 years of experience, he was on the other side with hardly one year of technical experience. Lepcha was handed over one site for the execution of 3.7 KM tunnel excavation at Adit III (Shipgyer) where with his excellent managerial and technical skill successfully
completed the tunnel work. Presently he is associated with Greenko Group as an Assistant General Manager
for the development of 96 MW Dikchu Hydro Electric Project being developed by M/s Sneha Kinetic Power Project Private Limited.
