The high-powered committee set up by the state government to look into the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha’s demand to include Dooars and Terai region in the proposed Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA), has roped in University of Kalyani for carrying out a demographic survey of the said regions.
The university has been asked to submit a report to the panel as soon as possible.
The survey and study report will be sponsored by the Univesity Grants Commission, it is learnt from official sources.
The decision comes in the wake the GJM handing out a deadline to settle all outstanding issues without any further delay.
