The judicial works at the Kalimpong Court was put at halt today following the 2 days resistance against the Higher Education and Research Bill by the Bar Association of India. Supporting decision of the Association, the advocates of Kalimpong Court chose not to work for the day which shall be followed tomorrow also.
Departmental officials’ check hike rates in Haat bazar
As per the command of the Sub Divisional Officer LN Sherpa, the Municipality, the Sub Divisional Office, Nagar Councilor and the members of the Food and Civil Supplies today round up the Saturday haat Bazar in Kalimpong. The team in order to check the hike in rates of the vegetables circled the haat bazar. Vegetables like potatoes in 22-26 per kg, onion 18-20 per kg, carrot 70-80 per kg, ladyfinger 60 per kg, guard 40 per kg are being sold out which has been affecting the ordinary people of the town. The vendors on the other hand said that due to the strike of the main line truck drivers; there was less amount of supply in the market for which the hike in prices was reasonable
Shiv Pujan Samiti conducts various religious activities
The Shiv Pujan Samiti today conducted Akhand Hari Kirtan, Asthjam and Kalash Yatraat the town’s Thakurbari. Large number of devotees placed Kalash atop their heads and participated in the Yatra which after encircling the town later dissolved at Thakurbari.Under the guidance of Pandit Mahavir Prasad Sharma and Pandit Vyas Dubey, 11 Pandits conducted the Akhand Kirtan, Ramayan Path, Hawan Puja and Satyanarayan Puja. These religious activities shall further continue for the next 24 hours and will be followed by a Rath Yatra, Ram Vivah Kirtan and Ram Leela.
