It’s selection not election - Saman Phatak on GTA election

Kalimpong|Mukesh sharma: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader also the former MP Saman Phatak today said that the party has taken part in the Gorkha Territorial Administration election by which an individual can exercise their rights, choosing their leader democratically, but many of them were barred in their way and beaten ruthlessly.Talking to the reporters at Kalimpong Phatak said that the candidates in Hills has been mentally tortured blowing away the very principles of the democracy. “It’s not the election but the selection that is taking place in Hills” said Phatak and the GJM has been forcibly compelling the opposition candidates to withdraw from the GTA election which resulted 28 GJM candidates as uncontested. Commenting on the Trinamool Congress Phatak said that the GJM and the TMC has a strong understanding at the State level. But to bring back democracy in the Hills the CPIM in collaboration with different political parties will fight against the existing system said Phatak.
