Mamata congratulates 28 uncontested GJM candidates

Kalimpong|Mukesh Sharma: The 28 uncontested Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) candidates today met with the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee at the Circuit House. The GJM Chief, Bimal Gurung along with North Bengal Development Minister, Gautam Deb was also present during the meet.After the meet which prolonged till an hour, the CM along with the GJM President addressing the media said that Darjeeling has always been a good friend to her. “I have congratulated all the winning candidates of the GJM”, she mentioned. “Through the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) the hills shall develop and both the GJM and Trinamool (TMC) shall work together”, she underlined. Further, saying that peace shall prevail in the hills, the CM expressed that she wants to see Darjeeling as the number one tourism destination in the world. Likewise, she also directed the GJM to work towards the betterment of the hills and its people after the formation of the GTA Board. The Morcha should foremostly concentrate on the education and unemployment issues in the hills, she stressed. She also informed that the GTA shall receive funds from the Central Government. “We have been trying since long to recognize Darjeeling as the Backward District”, she notified.Similarly, the Morcha Chief stated that the GJM- Mamata relation which was getting bitter during the past days has now been bettered during the hours meet. “The CM is like a mother to us, any in every family there are slight misunderstandings between the mother and her child which is not to be taken seriously”, said Gurung. “Our relation should not deteriorate instead it should be further be built strong”, he added. Gurung also stressed on making GTA a corruption free autonomous body. Lastly, he proclaimed that the rest 17 seats which shall witness the faceoff between the GJM and TMC candidates shall also be won by the GJM.
